On my way

"Tell everybody I'm on my way
New friends and new places to see
With blue skies ahead, yes I'm on my way
And there's no where else that I'd rather be"

It's been over 5 months now. Over 5 months at the other end of the world. I faced good and bad wwoofing places, I dealt with my broken car, I met the most amazing and helpful people on this planet, I missed home, I bought a car, I started drinking coffee, I was full of excitement on my birthday, I went swimming in the ocean, I probably got bitten by a spider, I pushed my own boundaries, I learnt new words, I learnt how to carry three plates, I opened my heart to strangers...

I grew as a person. It disturbs me quite a lot when people think I am having an easy holiday here and can afford to travel NZ for a year. So far, I have rarely done any traveling at all. I've been working very hard over the last 2 months, facing 12 to 15 hours of work daily. I was exhausted, but I learnt to cherish every single minute I had to calm down. After all, I had one goal: going traveling for a few weeks without having to worry about working. And I know I am very lucky because I really like my two jobs. I am here to experience this country with all of my senses. I want to take nothing but photographs and memories and leave nothing but footprints.

My whole stay in NZ changed when I came to Tairua. Within a week, I had a place to stay, I had a job, I had friends. I had a place to call home.

3 months have passed since my first day in Tairua. I remember very well when I found the beach by accident on my second day and I knew I could not have found a better place to stay over the summer. I met so many unbelievably kind people and I feel very honoured to call them my friends now. I liked going to work every day eben though I was tired as hell, because I enjoyed working with the people there. My work was appreciated, and it was an awesome feeling to see the smile in strangers' faces.

I've seen the most beautiful places in the Coromandel, from Cathedral Cove to the top of Mount Paku, the hidden waterfall 10 minutes from our house, Hot Water Beach at night... I became really fond of the Easton family who had me stay for over 3 months. I met wwoofers from all over the world and I am hopefully going to visit them in their home countries one time. This is just another chapter of my journey, and I have no idea where it will take me - but I am excited for it.

I'm on my way.
